Com ja passés amb els Globus d'Or , Twelve Years a Slave i American Hustle s'han erigit com a gran favorites als Critics' Choice Awards.
Tant la cinta de Steve McQueen com la de David O. Russell s'han fet amb tretze nominacions i totes dues apunten a ser les grans vencedores d'aquests premis.
Gravity s'ha fet amb deu candidatures pel que és la gran rival de Twelve Years a Slave i American Hustle, les tres cintes optant tant a millor film com a millor direcció.
També són nominades a millor pel·lícula i millor direcció Captain Phillips , Her i The Wolf of Wall Street que obtenen sis candidatures, les mateixes que obté Nebraska que opta a millor film però no a millor director.
Sandra Bullock rep tres nominacions, dues per “Gravity” i una per “The Heat”, si tenim en compte la categoria de millor repartiment, també reben tres nominacions Christian Bale , les tres per “American Hustle” i Jennifer Lawrence , dues per “American Hustle” i una per “The Hunger Games: Catch.
